Gulf View is Green

The Gulf View continues to take sustainable steps towards the “green dream”. It’s been almost ten years since the installation of our three thousand gallon cistern, now accompanied by our state of the art irrigation system, plants, trees, and lawns get just the right amount of water. Two years ago we converted all high voltage exterior lighting to compact florescent a savings of about 3,850 watts/per hour, and in 2007 we started using compacts in the rooms. The recycling program has been extremely successful. All plastics, cardboard, metal, aluminum, newspaper, glass, electronics and office products are recycled weekly. We have a towel reuse program that we encourage our guests to participate in and just recently we’ve provided all of our guests with Thermo Tote bags for their shopping during their stay. In the future we have plans to make the transition to solar power. We are working to keep our environment clean for not only us, but our children and generations to come. Below is a partial list of over a hundred lush drought tolerant plants we have planted in the last thirteen years.
