“Best value resort in the Keys!” --- Orland Park, IL
”We stayed at this resort in Marathon for 5 days and absolutely loved it. The owners are pleasant and the property is gorgeous! Take a paddleboat ride out to the dolphin reasearch center next door, or just relax in a hammock or in the pool! This place is so relaxing and clean. At mile marker 58 it was in the center of the keys so its a short drive to the upper or lower keys, so its perfect. After heavily researching places to stay in the keys this is definitely your best value. We passed by several listed motels and resorts that didn't compare to Gulfview and they were more expensive! The Cay resorts are gorgeous but us middle class working folks don't have $350-$500 a night to spend. You won't be disappointed! We will definitely be back!!
“Best place on earth” --- Greenacres, Fl
“Our family has been going to this resort since 1988. It has filled our need for many years, clean rooms, friendly owners, you could not ask for a better place to stay”
“A Real Gem!!!” --- Chicago IL.
“A real gem. outstanding in every way. Perfectly situated in the mid keys and a great value. The property is meticulously maintained and gorgeous. So quiet and relaxing we decided to stay another week. The owners and staff treated us like royalty. We can't wait to return.”
“Great Location - Quiet and Comfortable” --- Connecticut
”We spent 2 days mid week at the resort - had a great time. This is a small family run resort, right on Florida Bay (North Coast) on the eastern end of Marathon (less crowded). The property is well maintained, clean, has a nice big, deep pool, lots of palms with places to sit and relax, a small open lawn and beach for sunning, free kayaks and canoes, and a dedicated clientelle that comes back year after year.
The rooms are simple but well appointed and clean - the weather was great so we did not spend much time there. The kitchen is complete and well stocked with all the essentials for cooking. There are multiple gas grilles on the property for use, plus lots of outdoor seating.
The water out front is typical bay - shallow water great for snorkeling and paddling around, with lots of marine life to see.
This is the place if you are looking for a cozy place to relax for a while and decompress. Not too many rooms so there is not a lot of people around, and the owners are very helpful but out of the way. Just a great place!”
“A++++++++” --- Miami
“i absolutely LOVED staying here.. yea ok.. it's not a 5 star hotel but it's quiet and relaxing and beautiful! The owners are wonderful people, very neighborly and nice. I especially loved the fact that i could bring my dog! And i loved that they had such beautiful exotic birds in the little garden. Loved the accessability to the canoes and kayaks free of charge. Loved that there were more than one bbq stations and a small putting area for those golf lovers like my dad and sister. Overall it was a beautiful and tranquil place. This has become my favorite place to stay in the Keys! THe rooms are great! I stayed in a two bedroom, and the kitchen had everything we needed the rooms alone were beautiful. It was great! Whoever doesn't appreciate this place for what it is, then they are really too complicated and full of it. I give this place an A++++++++!”
“The REAL Story on the Gulf View” --- Chicago, IL.
“Ok, first time I ever went to Florida, and I must say, I was leery because the rates were cheaper then most of the rest. As soon as I arrived, A wonderful woman named Susan greeted us, and walked us to our room. The room was small, but had everything we needed, a fridge, sink, couch and table, cable tv and a microwave. It is located in the middle of the keys, so you are really never too far from anything here. We did a fishing charter off of Big Pine Key, visited Key West, and did the Casino boat out of Key Largo, and never drove more then 40 minutes. The last day of our trip, I just wanted to really stop the touristy stuff and enjoy the resort, so we stayed back that night, cooked a great meal on one of the 8 or so grills , ate dinner under a tiki hut on a small beach over looking the gulf of mexico, and watched the sun set in complete solitude.
This hotel has very few rooms, so you wont feel cramped or crowded in anyway shape or form. The pool techincally closes at dusk, but we were told that if we were quiet, the pool really is open all night. (which held true, i was floating in the pool at 12 a.m )I sat alone on the small beach with a six pack of beer in complete quiet, nothing but the ocean and the wind. You want paradise? I am telling you, you can go to those expensive resorts if you want to, but THIS place here is true PARADISE. Paradise to me is to feel like I have my little piece of the world to myself, if only for a bit, and this place gave that and more to me.I already am planning on returning next year, and I have no need to look for another place to stay, I will be calling Susan and bookin my room at the Gulf View Resort.”
“Wonderful place.” --- Phoenix, Az.
“Wonderful place to stay. The owners made us feel right at home and the service was great. Will stay here again if we ever get back to the Keys.”
“A very nice pleasant weekend” --- New York
“My husband and I stayed at the Gulf View Resort with our teen age son. We were visiting my oldest son (he lives in Miami) - he had to go out of town unexpectedly - so we toured the Keys for a few days. Susan, the owner, was very kind and accommodating to all our last minute changes. Her son Michael was very helpful - and worked very hard to make sure we were happy. The room was clean. I liked the idea of a "hard wood floor" instead of carpeting. I wonder why more hotels etc don't do this? It felt very clean and fresh. We had a nice glass table (my husband liked being able to put keys/glasses on the shelf underneath the table) A new refridgerator and microwave. The pool was clean - with lounge chairs in the shade. My son enjoyed the free kayaks that were available at the dock. I did not worry about him - the lagoon was large - but not very deep - and safe from speeding boats. We felt safe the entire visit. We never locked our room door - or worried about anything. I would definitely stay here again - it felt more like staying with family (that you liked!) than a motel.”
“Loved it!!!” --- Lakeland,FL
“My family and I stayed the weekend here in June. We have fallen in love with this resort. I highly recommend anyone wishing to stay in Marathon to stay at the Gulf View Resort, you will love it. The owners Chuck and Susan are so nice and friendly along with staff member Denise. They made us feel right at home and not just another tenant for the day. The resort is small with 11 rooms but that's what we loved about it. Even the other guest were friendly. Our room was so spacious and comfortable. We had a full kitchen with stove and even equiped with plenty of dishes and cookware. The 2 bedrooms gave plenty of privacy and the 2 futon couches were extremely comfortable. There was also a grill outside our room and patio table. The property had a tropical feel to it with all the palm trees, parrots and little beach under the tiki hut. There was also a hammock and grill under the palm trees for anyone to use. I can't say enough about how great this place is. If you want something different from a stuffy hotel then definitely stay here. Thank you Gulf View Resort, we'll see you next year!!” |
